Job Hunting Is Your Job!

There are many aspects of a job search that many people dislike… and so don’t do. Unfortunately, that often results in a very prolonged job search, creating a lot of stress and frustration.
Most people have heard the cliche that a job search is a full-time job in itself, however, very few people treat it that way.
Once the mental commitment is made to view, and treat the search as a job, the process becomes more productive.
Consider these points…

Any job requires some unpleasant tasks

While it’s a nice fantasy to think about the job you land as a blissful experience of going from one fun and exciting task to the next… the reality is that ANY job includes some things that are less than “’fulfilling”. Yet, you do them because it’s part of the expectation from your employer, and a required part to accomplish the ultimate objectives. The same is true in a job search. While getting an offer letter may be the exciting part… there are several necessary steps to take to get to that stage.

Most jobs require a schedule

There are expectations and requirements in most jobs to be at the place of work, or to be engaged in certain activities during certain hours and for a required number of hours per week. Most job seekers, however, have no schedule for their day or week and drift from one task, to down time, to extra-curricular activities, to another task throughout their day. Setting, and adhering to a schedule makes the job search far more productive and shortens it’s duration.

Jobs have required “output”

Typically, jobs have set expectations of completed tasks or achieved results. Setting daily and weekly goals for new connections, leads, meetings, and phone calls for yourself just as an employer may have goals for your work each day will produce greater results.

Doing your “job” well, improves your attitude!

The best thing anyone can do for their attitude is to do the things they know they ought to do. Working hard at doing the tasks required for an effective job search can be a great way to maintain a positive mental attitude during your search. Regardless of results… getting to the end of the day or end of the week and honestly being able to say you did the things you should have been doing will help reduce stress and put things in proper perspective.
Conversely, getting to the end of the day or end of the week and realizing you didn’t execute on a great number of tasks you should have done leaves you defeated, self-critical, discouraged, and frustrated. Do what you know you ought to do!

The more you treat your job search in a disciplined way, as you would a full-time job, the better your attitude, and your results will be!

Cash Falling From Sky In Dubai | Money Flying On Dubai Streets

It's raining money! Dubai drivers abandon cars after notes worth £90 start blowing across highway

Hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cash fell from the sky and blew through Dubai, UAE, one of the most cash-rich cities in the world

This is the incredible moment people in Dubai abandoned their cars and scrambled for cash after it started raining MONEY.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cash fell from the sky and blew through Dubai, UAE, one of the most cash-rich cities in the world.

Pedestrians proved that despite the country's riches, they weren’t above dodging traffic to pick up the swirling 500 UAE Dirham notes - worth around £88 each.

The notes were carried by strong winds through the Jumeirah area of the city.

One surprised local described how his wife pulled over her car to film motorists avoid people grabbing cash on a busy stretch of highway in the city.

He said: ‘It was just raining money. It was 500 AED notes which is worth quite a lot.

‘Everyone was [amazed] this was happening.'

Police arrived at the area later and ushered people away.

Locals still have no explanation for the incident which happened on February 11.

The beauty of eggs is that they are low in calorie and contain 7 grams of protein, as well as other beneficial nutrients. Although the yolk is high in cholesterol, it does hold its benefits – consuming inmoderation is advised.

Fruits are your friends when it comes to losing weight; they offer countless benefits and still satisfy your tastes buds. The importance of green tea in battling body fat could not be stressed enough; the phytochemical catechins, found in green tea, is known to speed metabolisms. For something different try blueberries on salads or in smoothies.

shutterstock_87855436

However, this is the case when it is taken without fattening add-ins like sugar and cream. Also, please be aware that too much caffeine can have very harmful effects on the body; so keep your intake to 1-3 cups a day.

11. Quinoa

shutterstock_150166349
One of the biggest misconceptions about carbs is that is that they cause you to gain weight. Its actually not the carbs that make you gain weight but the type of carbs that do.. Quinoa is high in fiber and protein which will make you feel full. Unlike other grains, it is low on the glycemic index; this means that it doesn’t raise your blood sugar which in turn keeps you from craving sugar and carbs.

5 Tips On Asking For A Job Reference

During your job search you’ll more than likely come across situations where you have to provide references to back up your application for a vacancy.
Depending on the role, these may be former employers and colleagues, or character references, which can be anyone from former school tutors or professors to colleagues in any extra-curricular activities you take part in.
Whoever you choose as your reference, it’s vital that you ask them for permission first, so they’re fully prepared and they’re not caught off-guard.
With that in mind, here are a few tips on asking someone for a reference for a job application.
1) Consider The Position
One of the mistakes a lot of job seekers make when choosing who to ask to be a reference is picking the same people for each job application.

Which reference you choose should depend on the set of skills and experience the job in question requires.
Think about which of your potential references could sell you the best for this role based on their experiences of working with you, and choose the best ones based on this.
2) Avoid E-mail
So, you’ve chosen the references you want for this job, now it’s time to contact them.
The best way to do this is in person or over the phone, as an email is too impersonal – you’re asking for a favor, the least you can do is pick the phone up and call.
If you can, invite them for a coffee to catch up and ask for the reference there – maintaining relationships with former colleagues can open you up to lots of opportunities, so a quick coffee won’t hurt!
3) Send Over Your CV And Job Specification
Once your chosen person has agreed to give you a reference, send them your updates CV, as well as the job specification for the position you’re applying for.
This will ensure that they know what to expect when they get the call, as well as jogging their memory on exactly what responsibilities you carried out when you worked together.
If you want to go that extra mile, highlight the key parts of the job specification that you feel they’d be best placed to provide a reference for – they’ll thank you for doing the hard work for them, believe me!
4) Ask For An Additional Letter Of Reference
While you’re asking this contact to provide a reference to an employer for a particular job vacancy, there’s no harm in asking them to give you a general letter of reference to use for future positions.
This means you won’t have to go back to them every time you need to use them as a reference – you can provide anyone who asks with the letter, then provide further contact details if needed!
Also, the letter will be a great bit of extra collateral for when you get to the final stages of any future job applications, as it might just give you that extra edge.
So there we go, a few tips on how to ask someone to provide a reference for a job application! Do you agree with these tips or have any of your own?

94,289 Job Visas for Filipinos related to Qatar World Cup 2022

by Raynald C Rivera

DOHA: Thousands of jobs, mostly related to the country’s preparation for World Cup 2022, await Filipinos in Qatar.

There are 94,289 visas reserved for Filipino workers that Qatar is hoping to be deployed soon, mostly in the health sector and the ongoing rail project, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Hussein bin Youssef Al Mulla informed the Philippine delegation during the recent second Philippines-Qatar Joint Committee Meeting on Labour Matters. “This means that many employers here prefer Filipinos in certain job categories for skilled workers and professionals,” Labor Attache Leopoldo B De Jesus told The Peninsula yesterday.

Knowledge and experience as well as English language proficiency are some of the reasons why employers prefer Filipino workers to be part of their companies, said De Jesus.

Skilled Filipino workers who come here have the knowledge and right training courtesy of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), while the professionals, on the other hand, are experienced and licensed, he said.

The Philippines has received 78,426 job orders from Qatar, the latest figures which are based on the job requests by manpower companies processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), he added.

The population of Filipinos in Qatar currently stands at 188,000, the Ministry told the Philippine delegation.

The meeting was held in line with the 2008 Additional Protocol with respect to labour cooperation between both countries signed in 1997. Transparency in the recruitment process with emphasis on ethical recruitment practices and settlements of disputes involving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were among the matters discussed, said POEA Administrator Hans Leo J Cacdac, who led the Philippine delegation

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Al Mulla told the Philippine delegation that the Qatari Labour Law prohibits payment of recruitment fees.

Cacdac promised to issue a circular warning prospective OFWs coming to Qatar against paying such fees to recruiters.

The Philippine delegation submitted a proposal in line with enhancing the protection of Household Service Workers (HSWs).

Qatar announced that it is nearing completion of the drafting of a law to protect HSWs.

Both sides agreed to exchange blacklists of erring recruitment agencies and white lists of good performing agencies.

‘Comprehensive information and orientation programme for migrant workers and ‘skills, development, certification, upgrading and recognition system’ — two of the project outcomes of Abu Dhabi Dialogue — were also discussed. The third joint committee meeting will be hosted by Manila later this year, to be preceded by a technical working group meeting.
